Gordon’s advisory work bridges the gap between city visions and the reality of cities. He has delivered city strategies across the world to all manner of city organisations.

Gordon is a trusted strategic city advisor to NGO’s, governments and industry. He has engaged with cities globally and major city infrastructure projects as well as the public and private sectors, NGO’s, government organisations such as the UN, ADB, World Bank and the EU. Private sector technology companies have also engaged Gordon to assist with understanding the smart city market whilst major engineering and management consultants have engaged with Gordon to assist with city strategies and development advisory work.
Speaking Engagements
Speaking Engagements and Media – Gordon is a sought after speaker and recognised thought leader across city development, infrastructure and the current critical issues facing greenfield and brownfield developments.
He has spoken across the world at numerous events such as TEDx in Thailand and locations as diverse as Guiyang China, Alesund Norway, Washington DC, and was one of the original Barcelona Smart City conference keynote speakers way back in 2011 at the first event.
City Strategies & Frameworks
Governance & Policies / City Bench-marking / City Indices – He has designed city programs globally for many cities and organisations such as the City of Barcelona (the City Protocol Society), Chinese COD (Central Organisation Department), the European Union and many others.
Master Planned Developments
Development Advisory – New master planned smart cities and their development strategy are very much intertwined. All upstream development strategies include feasibilities ( macro-economic, real estate and infrastructure) and asset delivery strategies across all infrastructure classes. Gordon has done this before both client side, and for also clients and can assist greatly here in an area that is not covered by 99% of the consulting firms around.
Partnerships & Eco-System – Smart Cities are also all about Eco-System creation ( in the old days some called it FDI and business attraction ) – this is often difficult for property developers to navigate with the MNC tech companies and equally governments are confused by how to work with MNC tech companies. Gordon is in a unique position where he has built Eco-systems both as the city client and also as the MNC tech company. This is real experience that is rarely available.
“In smart city development its really about asking the right questions rather than providing answers to the wrong questions.”
